A training series for students with disabilities and learning differences and theirfamilies. There is no cost associated with this training. Funded by OPWDD Family Support Services

OPWDD (Office of People with Developmental Disabilities)

This workshop provides an overview of the eligibility criteria, process and benefits for children through OPWDD.

ADHD/LD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder & Learning Disabilities)

This workshop gives an overview of disabilities often present in classrooms and schools (specifically ADHD & Learning Disabilities). This workshop provides staff and/or parents with understanding of specific disabilities, possible accommodations and strategies to meet the needs of students.

Transition

This workshop will review the IEP requirement for transition along with the different options that are available to students with disabilities post high school.

Understanding the IEP (Line by Line)

This workshop will take a deep dive in the Individualized Education Plan. We will look at each section and discuss the purpose/importance of accurate information.

  • January 18, 2024: 6pm

Guardianship/Power of Attorney & Supported Decision Making

This workshop defines the topic terms and their differences, and provides insight on obtaining the legal designations. Additionally, new rights and responsibilities that come into effect once a child reaches 18 years of age will be discussed as well.

Behavior Management at Home

This workshop will help in understanding and preventing negative behaviors and provide strategies to address behavior concerns.
