In this course we will work towards meeting the goals of the New York State Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards. The goals include obtaining skills (proficiency) in the following core areas: The Number System, Expressions & Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Probability/Statistics. NYS Performance indicators include but are not limited to obtaining skills in the following topic areas: Integral Exponents, Scientific Notation, Multi-Step Linear Equations, Systems of Equations, Coordinate Geometry, Function Rules, Relations/ Functions, Angle Pair Relationships, Transformations, Similarity, Volume, Probability/Statistics, Rational vs Irrational Numbers(Including Square/Cube Roots), & The Pythagorean Theorem. Students will work on Word Problems and Constructive Response Questions that cover all topics regularly to help them prepare for the Math 8 Assessment Examination.
