Course Description: 

This middle level science course is designed to present students with an understanding of Earth as well as the universe. This course has a major laboratory component. The four major topics in the course are: geology, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy. Other covered topics include mineral and rock resources, Earth’s interior and plate tectonic mechanisms, glacial processes, and the development of the solar system. The final examination is the two-part Regents Examination in Earth Science. To sit for the Regents examination, students must complete: the Regents Earth Science lab practical and a state mandated number of laboratory exercises with a satisfactory written laboratory report. Prerequisite: Students must have completed either Living Environment R.
