Living Environment 2 is the sequel to Living Environment 1. It includes a state mandated laboratory component with a 30 lab hour minimum and an additional lab period scheduled every other day. The course examines the remaining Regents topics not covered in Living Environment 1 and reviews material in preparation for the Regents examination including lab format, microscopes, metric units, and graphing. The principle areas covered during this course include the following: ecology, photosynthesis, respiration, DNA, cell division, meiosis, reproduction and development, genetics, and evolution. Within each unit, specific laboratory exercises are completed to help students apply the concepts covered. The remaining mandated NYS laboratory exercises are presented with the appropriate units. The final examination is the Regents Examination in Living Environment. To be eligible for this exam, students must complete the state mandated number of laboratory exercises with a satisfactory written laboratory report.
