Tri-State Bridge Construction

Tri-State Bridge Construction

Port Jervis Learning Community,

In the next few weeks the construction work on the Tri-State Bridge and the immediate areas will begin to have varying levels of impact on traffic.  While there will be a formal meeting with representatives from the construction company, City of Port Jervis, Quality Bus Company and the School District to discuss the specifics and timelines on October 16, 2018, I feel it is necessary to send out the limited information we have at this time to our learning community.

Specifically, between now and October 22 there will be construction activity taking place that may warrant stopping traffic for brief, intermittent periods to allow for the movement of equipment or materials from one side of the bridge to the other.   Beginning on or about October 22, there will be buildings that will be demolished and the temporary bridge will be constructed.  This will result in an increase in traffic stoppages and potential lane closures.  While there should be no lane closures before 9:00 am or after 3:00 pm, it is likely that the construction activities could have a noticeable impact on the flow of traffic beyond those hours.

Please note that Mayor Decker and the Department of Public Works are collaborating with the District to minimize or eliminate any impact on the arrival and dismissal of students.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Should one have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email me.

Thank you,

Mike Rydell
