November 18, 2020
Dear Port Jervis Learning Community:
We were informed on Tuesday evening, November 17, that one of our high school students tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The student attends Orange-Ulster BOCES Career-Tech Program and last attended on Monday, November 16, 2020. The student is Remote Only and did not attend Port Jervis High School for in person instruction since the beginning of the school year. All students that were in direct or proximate contact with the positive case as a result of the bus transportation to BOCES were contacted by our high school administration and staff. These individuals were instructed to quarantine for 14 days from the last date of contact.
As a result of the student being in the Remote Only model for courses at Port Jervis High School, it was determined that no faculty or staff were possible contacts. Again, the students that were determined to be direct or proximate contacts have been notified.
Thank you for understanding the fact that due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the name or names of the individuals with COVID-19. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Orange County Department of Health at 845-291-2330.
Sincerely,
Mike Rydell
Superintendent of Schools
