Course Description: 

This is designed as a third year science course. Forensics is the study of science applied to criminal and civil laws. Students will learn techniques used to identify and convict criminals. Famous criminal cases of historical significance will be studied. Topics include: crime scenes, fingerprints, DNA, serology, the study of hair and fibers, ballistics, anthropology, and body decomposition. Laboratory exercises used in this class are designed to clarify the concepts covered. The course has both a midterm and a final examination. Prerequisite: students must have completed a minimum of two Regents science classes and earned a passing grade on the Regents Examination in Living Environment.
