Course Description: 

This upper level science class has a major laboratory component. The course covers the following topics: matter and energy, atomic structure, bonding, the periodic table, kinetics and equilibrium, acid-base chemistry, oxidation-reduction reactions, electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry and organic chemistry. Within each unit, specific laboratory exercises are completed to help students apply the concepts covered. The final exam in this course is the Regents Exam in Chemistry. To sit for the examination, students must complete the state mandated number of laboratory exercises with a satisfactory written laboratory report. Prerequisite: Students must have successfully completed two years of Regents science and should be concurrently enrolled in the third year of Regents mathematics.
