Board of Education Meeting Attendance Letter

Dear Port Jervis Learning Community,

Since March 2020, there have been modifications to the manner in which Boards of Education have held public meetings.  Initially, Port Jervis CSD utilized remote meetings which were in turn, live streamed to the community.  This transitioned to in-person meetings with just members of the Board of Education in attendance, followed by having administrators present.  Again, the meetings were live streamed for the public to view.

The Board of Education recently received correspondence from a community member seeking in-person meetings to resume.  The Board of Education has decided that effective June 15, 2021, in addition to live streaming the public meeting, there will be an option for up to twenty (20) people to attend the meeting, in-person.  This attendance is in addition to the administrators that will also be present at the meeting.  The limitation of the number of people that are able to attend in-person allows for six (6) feet of distance between each attendee.

To attend the meeting, please note the following protocol:

  • Anyone wishing to attend must contact Kristen Lopez, District Clerk, by 4:00 pm of the day preceding the meeting.  (845-858-3100 Ext. 15511 or klopez@pjschools.org
  • If one wishes to participate in Public Comment at the meeting, please indicate this to Mrs. Lopez when signing up to attend.  As is protocol for public comment at regular meetings, please give a short, generalized topic that you will speak on.
  • Per New York State guidelines, masks are mandated inside of school buildings.  All attendees are required to wear a mask while attending the meeting.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing you in person at our meetings!
