2020 Graduation Plan

2020 Graduation Plan

June 2020

Dear Class of 2020 Graduate and Family,

I am writing to update you with some important end of year and graduation information. I am sure you have been anxious to finalize your plans. Here is the plan we developed working closely with our graduation committee as well as Orange County officials:

2020 Graduation Plan:

Why: Due to Covid-19, we have devised an alternate plan that allows for a celebration and proper recognition of our graduates. This model is approved and maintains all safety and social distancing guidelines. It also allows for all of the memorable moments of graduation: The Pomp & Circumstance walk, crossing the stage, the graduates’ names announced, the cap toss, and traditional graduation photographs.

What: The Drive Through & Individual Stage Walk: Graduates, and members of their immediate family who are living in the same home, should arrive during their scheduled time slot. Cars will be directed through the ASK side of the 209 complex and pull up to the stage area which will be directly in front of the HS. The graduate will make their way to the stage, have their name called, receive their diploma, and family can take pictures. They then will process off stage, take some more pictures, and then head back to their vehicle to exit the campus. The whole event will be filmed and live-streamed on the internet with a recording available in the future.

When: Friday, June 26th with a rain date of Saturday, June 27th

The ceremony will start at 8am with the speeches and introductions, followed by 30 minute blocks of arrival times for graduates and their families. This will continue into the early afternoon. A full schedule will be released closer to the graduation date. The celebration motorcade through the Port Jervis community will be 7pm on the night of graduation.

How: Staff and law enforcement officials will be on hand to direct traffic and assist with the flow of the process. Cars will be moved safely into place to ensure social distancing while providing an opportunity for our graduates and their families to enjoy and capture the moment. A detailed schedule of events with specific logistics will be sent out closer to the date and a Q&A family information session will be held on Monday, June 15th, 2020 at 8pm using Google Meet.
