Academic Success 2026

Dear PJ Community:

We are thrilled to share some good news with you about our academic performance:

All of our schools are in “Good Academic Standing” for the third year in a row!

In New York State, all schools and districts are measured annually based on state test scores including grades 3-8 testing and Regents exams. In addition to overall student performance, schools and districts are also measured on how sub-groups such as students with disabilities, low socio-economic status and race performed. This year marks the third in a row that we have met all performance standards set by the state.

PJHS graduation rate increases to 86%

In just a few years, our four-year graduation rate has climbed from 79% in 2023, 82% in 2024 and now 86% in 2025. Our next goal is to reach 90%. What types of things count against the graduation rate? In addition to a student dropping out, other reasons include a student returning for a fifth year, a student needing summer school right after their senior year, and students with disabilities who don’t earn a traditional high school diploma.

Special education graduation rate soars

In 2022, only 54% of our special education students were graduating within four years. By 2025, the graduation rate has made a dramatic climb to 79%! Our next goal is 85%.

Thank you to everyone involved! It truly takes the students, parents/guardians, faculty and staff all working together to improve our students’ academic performance. Good attendance, behavior, homework and study habits, teaching, tutoring and parenting all play a part in helping our kids be successful. Everyone should feel proud about our kids and their increasing success!
