New York Education Law requires that scoliosis screenings are conducted in school if results of scoliosis screening are not provided to the school on the student’s health certificate for all female students in grade 5.
The purpose of the school screening program is to recognize spinal curvatures in the early stages. The procedure is simple: The children will be asked to stand in three different positions to observe the formation of the backbone. The children are asked to wear appropriate top clothing. The girls need to put their hair up in order to allow complete visibility of the back and shoulder.
Scoliosis screenings will be done on March 13, 2023, for all students who do not have one on file.
You will be notified of any suspected problems and requested to have your private doctor examine your child.
