Important - Phase I Extended

Important - Phase I Extended

Dear Port Jervis Learning Community,

First and foremost, I want to express my appreciation for the patience and understanding over the past few days, particularly with the transition back to Phase I.  I recognize the impact that a fully remote model has on our students, as well as their families.  These decisions are made following research, communication with the healthcare professionals, and the Department of Health.

Unfortunately, we have received reports of further confirmed positive test results for COVID-19 in the community, some of which have a direct or indirect impact on our staff or students.  As a result of this continued spread in the community and our central role of providing the safest and healthiest learning environment possible, the Port Jervis City School District will remain in Phase I through Friday, November 13.  All students will follow their schedules for synchronous, remote instruction.  Students that attend Orange-Ulster BOCES Career-Tech Program will follow the remote model for their BOCES Program.

Once again, thank you for the patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Mike Rydell

Superintendent of Schools
