Covid Parent Letter

Dear Parent/Guardian:

As the new school year approaches, there are many challenges that we are facing. We will be following NYSDOH guidelines for school attendance.

As of today’s date, the New York State Department of Health is recommending that ALL students be sent home if he/she is showing any ONE of the following signs:

  • Temperature of 100.0 or higher
  • Chills
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of smell or taste
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea

If your child is sent home, information will be provided on the criteria to return to school. The returning to learning protocol must include at minimum documentation of a health care provider evaluation, and symptom resolution. Or if COVID-19 positive, a release from isolation.

It is of high importance during this time that sick children be picked up as soon as possible. Please make sure your emergency contact information is up to date and have a plan in place to ensure prompt pick up of your child(ren) when needed.
If your child exhibits any of the above symptoms at any time please contact your school nurse prior to sending your child to school.

Please refer to the school district’s website for up to date COVID-19 information. If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse.

Sincerely,

PORT JERVIS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT NURSES
