All seven third grade classes at Anna S. Kuhl Elementary school recently held a walk-a-thon. The purpose of the walk-a-thon was to prove that you are never too young to help your community and have positive impact on the world around you. Additionally the children learned about the benefits of exercise and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The students chose to donate the funds to The Outdoor Club of Port Jervis. The Outdoor Club is a non-for-profit group who promotes the outdoors in all respects and helps to maintain the Watershed Park and Citywide trail system in an ecologically friendly and sustainable manner. They recently opened a new pump track in Riverside Park which many of the students are already enjoying. The club surprised the kids with t-shirts showcasing the newest club design, compasses, whistles and customized water bottles. The students were beyond thrilled! The children raised an impressive $1,367.59. Pictured are the top earners from each class: Mia Leeper, Lia Fox, Olive Hendry, Gracie Gallo, Alphonso Jones and Gabriel Lehn. Representing the Outdoor Club are Chip Estenes, Theresa Balagh and Mike Ward.
