ASK: Duck! Rabbit!

Mrs. Fini's 2nd-grade class at A.S.K. has been working hard on opinion writing. They have been developing reasons and providing examples to support their opinion. The class read the book, Duck! Rabbit!, which debates whether the reader thinks the same shape is a duck or a rabbit (optical illusion). The students wrote about their opinion, supporting it with reasons and examples. The students then created their own duck or rabbit and shared it with a friend to try to convince others to change their mind. One student had their own opinion and said "It's neither, it's a fish!"

The class had so much fun with this project, so they invited Mrs. Dymond's and Ms. Cahayla's kindergarten classes to join in on the fun. Mrs. Fini's class read their opinion to their assigned kindergartener(s) and then helped the kindergartener write their opinion whether it's a duck or rabbit. Then, the second graders helped the kindergartener(s) make their own duck or rabbit. In the end, the students debated and tried to get kids to switch sides. It was an amazing time and so much fun! Some students were even lucky enough to have their siblings to work with.
