Consumer Math

This course is designed for secondary students who have a basic grasp of mathematical computation but require additional instruction for applying these skills as a wise consumer. Instruction is provided using a variety of realistic, consumer-oriented applications. The course also encourages the use of calculators and teaches students to take advantage of its many functions. Freeing students from tedious paper-and-pencil computation allows them to focus on the process of problem solving. Areas that will be covered include: saving and investing, credit and debt, money management, careers, insurance and mortgages along with various practical math skills for everyday life.
