Ross Decker, Class of 1955

Ross Decker’s life was one dedicated to his family, his neighbors, and his community. After high school, Decker served his nation honorably in the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, he returned to his hometown to become administrator at Doctors Sunnyside Hospital. Decker’s service to country and community would be a benchmark of his life. He continued his military career with the New York Air National Guard, 105th Air Wing. He would remain with this unit until retirement. His efforts locally were well known. Decker was active in his church, serving in many roles. He was President and Treasurer of Howard Wheat Engine Company 4, Port Jervis Fire Department. Decker’s local affiliations included The Tri-State Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Minisink Valley Historical Society, and many more organizations. Ross Decker was the 24th Mayor of the City of Port Jervis from 2002-2003. He married his Port Jervis High School sweetheart and has 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
