Ronald Semerano, Class of 1973

Ron earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Health and Physical Education from Lock Haven and East Stroudsburg, respectively. He accepted the PJHS health teacher position in 1979 and remained in the position until his retirement in 2015. During that time, he coached just about every sport on every level for Port Jervis. He also served as the City’s recreation director for 9 years and the PJHS athletic director for 5 years. He was a varsity assistant football coach for 26 years, which included 2 OCL titles, 4 conference titles and 5 Section IX titles. In basketball, he was the girls’ coach for 14 years and the boys’ coach for 15 years. This included 258 wins, 7 Section IX finals appearances and 3 section titles. He was named the Times-Herald Record’s girls’ coach of the year in 1986. He is married to his PJHS sweetheart, Doreen, class of ‘75.
