Meagan Galligan, Class of 1999

Meagan graduated from NYU in 2003 and the Georgetown University Law Center in 2006. She joined the Sullivan County District Attorney’s office as an assistant district attorney in 2009 and was named acting D.A. in 2020. In 2021, she was elected to a full term becoming the first woman D.A. in Sullivan County history. Her election in 2023 as New York State Supreme Court Justice for the Third Judicial District marked two historic milestones as she is the first woman and the youngest person ever elected to this position. During her time in the D.A.’s office, she helped found the Sullivan County Child Advocacy Center and Family Violence Response Team. She also served as lead coordinator for the Sullivan County Drug Task Force and implemented the Hope Not Handcuffs program.
