PJHS: Youth in Government Fall 2021

Last week, the members of the high school Youth In Government Club participated in the Orange County Youth in Government Convention. This event, normally held at Minisink Valley High School, was virtual again this year, with over 180 students from districts all over the county participating. Port Jervis had a proposed law (known as a plank) presented by Braeden Ross in the State Committee and Penny Jones was elected secretary of the Social2 Committee. Both of these students were participating for the first time and we applaud their leadership. The rest of the students took part in the discussions, debates, and the voting process on the various planks presented in their respective committees. Our next event will be in the winter when the students will participate in a mock election.
