PJHS: National Depression & Mental Health Screening Month

PJHS: National Depression & Mental Health Screening Month

The High School guidance department would like to remind everyone that October is National Depression & Mental Health Screening Month. Major depression is one of the most common mental illnesses affecting more than 8% of Americans (21 million) each year, with 19.5% of youth ages 12-17, or about 4.8 million youth, reporting they are affected by major depression.

However, depression is treatable and the guidance staff urges anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or depressed to seek help from a professional--we have information in the guidance office to help connect you with someone who can listen and help.
