Dear Port Jervis Families,
Pre-Kindergarten programs provide our youngest students with the foundation for increased readiness and success for the academic and social components of their educational experiences. Pre-K learning opportunities promote language skills, pre-academic skills, social interactions, and a sense of independence. Our goal is to expand the number of students in this program beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.
Recognizing that a full day program is the most effective model, while also providing the best schedule and continuity for families, the program will have a total of 65 full day seats. Additionally, to remove a potential obstacle for attending Pre-K, bus transportation will be available for students in this program.
To provide this increase in the number of seats, the Pre-K programs will continue to be provided through our collaboration with Project Discovery and beginning in September 2022, a section will also be held at Hamilton Bicentennial Elementary School.

Program Schedule:
Monday - Friday - following the PJCSD 2022-2023 school district calendar.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be a resident of the district and the student must be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2022. A copy of the child’s birth certificate must be provided as proof.
Registration:
Applications can be found on our website, UPK Registration Link When completing the application, parents/guardians will select first and second choice location preferences - HBE or Project Discovery. Of the 65 total seats, 20 will be located at HBE and 45 will be in the Project Discovery program. Registration Deadline: May 13, 2022.
Lottery Format:
Following the Registration Deadline, a lottery system will be used to fill the seats in each of the programs and if necessary, establish a waiting list.
