September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, promote hope, and normalize help-seeking. On September 17th, the Mental Health Association in Orange County, Inc. shared information with students during lunch periods in recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, including local resources like: Text4Teens, a 24/7 confidential textline for Orange County teens which can be reached at 845-391-1000, and the Orange County Crisis Call Center, open to anyone by dialing 311. Both resources connect people in need of support for mental illness, substance use, developmental disability, physical or sexual assault, or who need information or referral to services, and support from trained professionals 24/7.
