PJHS: United Nations Trip

After months of collaboration and planning, PJHS teachers, Susan Bransfield (World Language), Jacqueline Jenkins (History), and Amelia Vega (English Language Learners), brought 36 College World History students, Multilingual Learners, and Bon Voyage Club members to visit the United Nations in NYC on March 6. There they learned about the 3 main beliefs that outline everything this international organization hopes to accomplish with its existence, originating from the horrors of World War II: Peace & Security, Development, and Human Rights. To highlight Foreign Language week, our students experienced the importance of multilingualism and learned about the work of interpreters and translators who help to facilitate this global cooperation. The students were able to see in action that 193 countries can discuss issues and work together to create a better world.
