The Runnin’ Raiders made school history at the Section Nine state qualifying on May 30th and 31st. Coached by HS social studies teacher John Wright, the girls' relay of Kaitlyn Batzel, Makenna Williams, Savannah Mioglionico, and Abi Russel won the 4x100 relay and will represent Port Jervis at the state championships. They are the first Port girls' relay team to make it to the state championships. On the boys' team, Emmanuel Roman, Josiah Welch, Ashur Allen, and Tino Proscia won the 4x100 relay setting a new school record, and also hit the standard for nationals.
We'd like to give a special shoutout to Makenna and Tino! Makenna for being the first Port eighth grader to qualify for a state championship (100m and 4x100) and Tino for being the first Port athlete to compete in three events (100, Long, 4x100) at the championships. Best of luck to all when they compete this weekend.
