On Monday, October 23rd, members of SADD and the PJYC (Port Jervis Youth Coalition) from both the high school and the middle school attended the county's annual Red Ribbon Week 2023 Kick-Off Ceremony hosted by ADAC at Warwick High School. Red Ribbon Week is one more way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. The campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. The displaying of Red Ribbons became a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a drug-free America.
Port's students participated in a variety of substance use prevention activities and presentations. They are proud to bring back the encouraging message to their Port peers to "Be Kind to Your Mind and Live Drug-Free!"
