This weekend, Port Jervis had 4 varsity wrestlers compete in the NYSPHSAA Championships in Albany. Section champions Matthew Oosterom, Charlie Wylie, Richard O'Lena, and Maddox McCormick all wrestled for the Division 2 team. Charlie placed 6th in the state at 102 pounds and made history by being the first female in Section IX history, and only the second in NYS history, to place at the boys' tournament! Matthew was the second Raider to reach the podium by taking 4th place at 215 pounds. Matthew is now a two-time state place winner. We congratulate all the athletes of our wrestling program for a great year and look forward to continued success for them in '23/24.
