Congratulations to PJHS Senior Eli Baumgardner for winning 1st place in carpentry at the recent Region IV Skills USA Competition hosted by Orange-Ulster BOCES C-Tech last Saturday.
Skills USA is a national organization that promotes leadership, lifelong learning, and dignity of work. The local chapter focuses on teamwork, character development through skills, competition, and community service. The organization partners with students, teachers, and industries to ensure that America has skilled workers. The event held at BOCES showcases the best career and technical education students in the area. Hundreds of students were in attendance from schools from around the region competing in career areas such as carpentry, electrical, culinary, esthetics, film, and many more with the day concluding with awards for top performances in each category.
Eli, along with the other winners from Saturday’s competition will advance to compete in the state competition to be held in April. We congratulate him on his accomplishments and wish him well in his next competition.
