PJHS: ADAC Poster Contest Winners

Port Jervis High School is proud to announce that the art department produced two winners in the annual ADAC poster contest. ADAC is the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County (ADAC); an organization whose purpose is to address the disease of alcoholism and other drug addictions by educating the general public about alcoholism and drug addiction as a treatable family disease; advocating on behalf of alcoholic and other drug-dependent people and those suffering the effects of alcoholism and other drug addictions; and preventing the diseases of alcoholism and other drug dependencies and the abuse of alcohol and other drugs through education and information dissemination. Each year they run a "be drug-free" poster contest and invite students from all over Orange County to design a poster urging people to live without drugs and alcohol. Port Jervis Senior art student Kareem Haynesworth won for the English language poster and Sophomore Katrina Kranik won for the Spanish language poster. Both students were given their awards at the Orange County Youth Bureau's 40th Annual County Executive's Youth & Adult Awards, the theme of which was "Celebrate Positive Youth Development". Congratulations to the 13 students from the high school who submitted posters for the contest and special congratulations to Kareem and Katrina!
