PJHS: Rotary's "Flags for Heroes" Project

With the fast approaching dedication event scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, November 13th, a group of Port Jervis students helped pound stakes into the ground and set up United States flags in the lot on the corner of Fowler Street and Jersey Avenue for the Rotary Club’s “Flags for Heroes.”

The "Flags for Heroes" project is a community tribute to the heroes in our lives, past and present; this project is a way to celebrate your personal hero.  Flags may be placed to honor veterans, members of the military, police, fire or other first responders.  Flags may also be raised to acknowledge teachers, coaches, mentors, community leaders, parents or children.

This project will fund our Rotary Club Scholarship program for graduating Port Jervis High School Seniors and along with other community projects.  Each $50 sponsorship will receive a medallion with their heroes' name, type of service, and the sponsor's name.  The medallion will be hung on the flagpole for the month of November.

The Port Jervis Rotary Club would like to thank the hard working Port Jervis High School students who helped to finish the most recent installation of the flags.
