October 30, 2024 - Big Apple Crunch
East Main Elementary & HBE participated today in the BIG APPLE CRUNCH! Both schools ALL bit into apples at the same time!
Each year, participants from across the state are invited to take a bite out of an apple grown in New York. Hundreds of thousands of students at schools and college campuses statewide now join in every year. Last year, we saw over 2.3 million New Yorkers participate in the Big Apple Crunch.
The FarmOn! Foundation partners with local farmers across the apple belt of New York to try and dedicate bringing children closer to food and farming with healthy fun. This year, HBE and EME have teamed up to coordinate a CRUNCH to bring awareness during apple harvest and inspire to EAT LOCAL with this pledge. We want to raise awareness about the importance of supporting our local New York farmers, creating better access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and making it more affordable to eat fresh, local food for our health and the environment.
Thank you to the PJ Food Service Department, Mrs. Hartmann at HBE, who has led this event for many years, and Mr. Hartmann, who helped coordinate the event at EME! #GoPORT!
