Hello PJMS Middle Schoolers! We are excited to welcome you to the 2022 - 2023 school year. I am Mr. Marotta, your Principal, and Mrs. Cook is your Assistant Principal and we can’t wait to meet you. 7th grade is an important time in your social and academic growth as you begin to face new challenges, take on more responsibility, and come together from your respective elementary schools to become a unified class: The Class of 2028!
At PJMS, our top priorities are building relationships and community in our school, your academic and social growth, and participation opportunities for students and staff. We want to make sure that all Port Jervis Middle School students feel connected and supported by our wonderful team of faculty, staff, and administrators.
We will hold a student/parent 7th Grade Orientation on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 5:00pm at the High School, in the auditorium. All students and parents are invited and encouraged to attend. If you cannot attend orientation on Monday evening, there will be another orientation for both 7th & 8th grade on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 1:00pm at the High School. You do not need to attend both sessions. We will review all aspects of your PJMS experience and introduce the new parts of being in the HS/ASK space on the 209 campus.
A few additional points of information:
- The first day of school is Tuesday, September 6, 2022. MS sports start this day also.
- If you are playing sports, you need a physical and also need to be registered on Family ID, located on the PJCSD website. Mrs. Lori Sexton is the MS nurse and can assist as needed with this process.
- You will need your chromebook on the first day of school. Please check that your chromebook is in good working condition and charged. If you need assistance, please email the PJCSD IT department at helpdesk@pjschools.org
- We want you to have an amazing, enriching school experience. Part of this will be that PJMS is cell-phone free during the school day. Students will be directed to keep their phones in their lockers throughout the school day and NOT have the phones with them.
Remember to check your school email for further updates and information. Keep reading, be kind, and enjoy the rest of the summer! #GoPort!
Yours in Port Pride,
Andrew Marotta Eileen Cook
