Grade 8 Summer Letter to Students

Grade 8 Summer Letter to Students

Hello PJMS Middle Schoolers!  We are excited to welcome you to the 2021 - 2022 school year and welcome you back to the Middle School.  This letter will provide important information to better prepare you for the upcoming year.  Eighth grade is an important time in your social and academic growth as you begin to face new challenges, take on more responsibility, and prepare for your transition to High School.  Through all of this, our number one priority this year will be to build relationships and community in our classrooms.  We want to make sure that all Port Jervis Middle School students feel connected and supported by faculty, staff and administrators.

The first day of school is Thursday September 2, 2021.
Students report to homeroom at 7:28 am.

In homeroom you are given:

  • Class Schedule
  • Locker number and combination
  • Agenda Planner
  • PJCSD Code of Conduct

You will need to bring your PJCSD provided Chromebook to school, charged and ready to use each day.  If you do not have a school issued device, one will be provided at the start of the school year.  You can also find a list of school supplies on the PJCSD website: www.pjschools.org on the Middle School page.

We will hold a student/parent 8th grade orientation night on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at PJMS.  All students and parents are invited to attend and we really encourage you to attend.  It will be a chance for you to meet us and vice versa.  There will be two time slots available, 5pm & 6pm.  You can select which one works better for you and your family by scanning the QR code or typing this URL in your web browser: https://forms.gle/CqApTgWiHoFavfon7

Need a refresher of the building?  Fully remote last year?  Just forgot?  Check out this awesome video made by our very own Mr. Kelly Decker.  Scan the QR code below for a detailed tour.  Many thanks to Mr. Decker for the guided video tour of PJMS. Port Pride in action.
