West Point Virtual STEM Middle School Camp

Mrs. Wieboldt proudly announces her student from STEM and Sustainability class Quarter 1 and Quarter 2, was accepted into the West Point Virtual STEM Middle School Camp. This camp will be held virtually from July 22, 2021 to July 23, 2021. The student needed to complete an essay and get references from adults to aid in his selection process. This unique program offers students currently in 6th and 7th grade (Middle School) and 8th and 9th grade (High School) the opportunity to participate in hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities taught by Academy faculty and cadet mentors.  Students must be citizens of the United States, demonstrate strong academic performance, and demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing college.

The Virtual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Camp is especially designed for students entering 7th and 8th grades who demonstrate strong interest and skills in science, technology, engineering and math. Some STEM programs are designed for older students; however, West Point feels that the sooner young people are introduced to these areas, the better they can prepare for their future college experience. Students can expect to be online from 11am to 5pm EST each day to complete their activities. The camp is currently planning to have Cadet-led modules in cryptography, catapult design, origami, bridge design, and others.
