Check out this classroom spotlight at PJMS! 8th-grade life science students investigated cellular respiration in yeast. During respiration, yeast cells metabolize glucose (just like our cells do) to release energy, producing carbon dioxide as a byproduct. Students observed CO2 accumulation inflating a balloon, providing visual evidence that cellular respiration was occurring.
