PJMS: Prevention Spin-The-Wheel

ADAC's PJCSD Prevention Specialist Denise Hulse hosts a monthly Prevention Spin-The-Wheel event for all students at PJMS. The events take place during the students' lunch period. It is Mrs. Hulse's goal is to have peer-driven events. Each month, students sign up to volunteer their time to run the event with supervision. Participants line up to choose a substance-related category of their choice, spin the wheel, and answer a question that is given to them by the student volunteer. Once they have had a chance to answer a question, they are allowed to move to the prize wheel. The prize wheel is also run by student volunteers. They get a prize even if their answer is wrong. It's all about learning and gaining knowledge, not about the right or wrong answer. It is estimated that around 300 students participated for the three lunch periods. Students are not only eager to play, but each month, I have numerous students who can't wait to volunteer. These are the volunteers from 9/15/25:

  • 6th Grade: Nevaeh Mohr, Zendaya Scott
  • 7th Grade: Tristen Guerrier, Sofia Texidor, Harmony Roff, Lilanna Perez
  • 8th Grade: Dahlia Shihada, Luca Mioglionico, Joshua Tiritilli
