HBE: GOTR Community Impact Project

Our HBE Girls on the Run Community Impact Project focused on creating bags of cheer and cards of encouragement for ALL of the Special Olympians throughout the Port Jervis City School District.

This project came about when it was mentioned that our Girls on the Run 5K would be held the same weekend as the Special Olympics, and the girls began discussing ways they could cheer on and support their peers and fellow athletes. The Special Olympics will be held on Saturday, June 6th, and the Girls on the Run 5K will take place on Sunday, June 7th.

Our families generously donated water bottles, Gatorade, snacks, coloring books, and fidget toys to give to our athletes as a way to cheer them on and help keep them busy throughout the long day.

Ms. Dekan, Ms. DiCarlo, Ms. Richter, and Mrs. Scannell are so proud of and grateful for the kindness and generosity shown by our Girls on the Run and their families.
