HBE: American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge

During the month of February, HBE participated in the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge. Students helped raise awareness for kids with special hearts. Donations will fund groundbreaking research and programs that literally keep hearts beating and help people live longer, healthier lives - in our community and beyond. In PE class, students learned about the importance of physical and social-emotional health by participating in a Ninja Warrior Course.

We had several goals we tried to achieve this year. One of our goals was to try and have over 18 students complete Finn’s Mission. If you completed Finn’s Mission you earned a cape and are entered into a chance to win 2 Super Bowl Tickets. Also, the class who had the most students complete Finn’s Mission won an extra recess. We would like to congratulate Mrs. Latini’s 1st grade class who had the most students complete Finn’s Mission and will be having an extra recess.

And one of our last goals was to raise over $2,000 for the American Heart Association. HBE was able to raise this year $4,004.93. We are so proud of all the hard work students have done to help children in need. Congratulations to HBE as we had 99 students register, 50 students raising money and 21 students who completed Finn’s Mission.

So since we beat our fundraising goal, HBE PE Teachers (Mrs. Hartmann and Mr. Knesel) were pied in the face today during an assembly. Click Here to view a video from the event!
