HBE: Kids Heart Challenge

During the month of February, HBE participated in the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge. HBE helped raise awareness for kids with special hearts. Donations will fund groundbreaking research and programs that literally keep hearts beating and help people live longer, healthier lives- in our community and beyond. In PE class, students learned about the importance of physical and social-emotional health by participating in a Ninja Warrior course. All students who registered or donated received different thank-you gifts.

We had several goals we tried to achieve this year. One of the goals was to have at least 100 students register for the program online. As a school we had 120 students and staff members register which meant our principals, Mrs. Mesnick and Mr. Karam, had to dress in dinosaur blow-up costumes for the entire day.

Our next goal was to have at least 18 students complete Finn's Mission and if we did then HBE would be entered into a $10,000 gym makeover. We were able to get 22 students to complete Finn's Mission. Also, if you completed Finn's Mission you earned a slow-rise ball and are entered into a chance to win 2 Super Bowl tickets for the 2025 Super Bowl. The class who had the most students complete Finn's Mission would also earn an extra recess. It was a close race throughout the month but the winning class was Mrs. Vicchiariello's 3rd grade class.

Our last goal was to raise over $3,000. HBE's best year was back in 2022 when we raised $4,100. This year we crushed that goal and we raised $5,486.23. For reaching our goal, we had an assembly on Tuesday where PE teachers, Mr. Knesel and Mrs. Hartmann, got SLIMED!

We are so proud of all the hard work HBE has done to help children in need.
