On Saturday, May 14th at Washingtonville High School, six 6th grade students from HBE were honored for the Catskill Zone of New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance's Physical Education Student Leadership Award. This award is given to outstanding leadership and excellence in Physical Education. These students demonstrated excellent performance in the areas of fitness, citizenship, and leadership. Mrs. Hartmann and Mr. Foley, HBE Physical Education Teachers, selected the students based on the following criteria:
The student:
1. Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship, and citizenship
2. Desires to learn and improve
3. Exhibits a physically active lifestyle
4. Demonstrates leadership and is a positive influence on peers
5. Has contributed toward the total school program
