BUS RULES AND
REGULATIONS
Because the driver must keep his or her attention on the road
and the operation of his bus, he cannot jeopardize the safety of
all students because of the behavior of a few.
The following regulations are strictly enforced:
1. The bus driver has complete authority over all pupils and the
power to enforce all rules and regulations on the bus.
2. Students will be ready when the bus arrives and will enter
promptly.
3. Students will not approach the bus while it is still in
motion.
4. There will be no unusual loudness in the way of talking or
laughing which will interfere with the effectiveness of the bus
driver.
5. Shoving, pushing, profane or obscene language is prohibited
at all times.
6. Students will keep heads, arms, and hands inside the bus at
all times, even if the bus is stopped.
7. There will be no eating, drinking or smoking on the bus.
8. Students will keep the bus clean and sanitary.
9. Students will keep the seat assigned by the driver.
10. Students will walk to and from their assigned seats without
disturbing or crowding others.
11. Students will remain seated while the bus is in motion.
12. Students will always sit facing forward to avoid possible
injury.
13. Students will not bring radios or tape players on the bus.
14. Students will obey the driver promptly and respectfully.
15. Students will realize that the driver has a serious
responsibility and it is everyone’s duty to help.
16. Students are not permitted to transfer from one bus to another.
In emergency situations - such as
family illness or out of town travel - parents can send a
written request to change their child's bus route for five
or more consecutive days. The request must be sent to the child's
principal for approval. Two days notice is required to allow
proper processing of the request.
17. Students must always cross in front of the bus in full view
of the driver, make eye contact, and await his signal to cross.
The student must then stop in front of the bus and look both
ways before entering the lane of traffic.
18. A student’s riding privilege may be suspended if their
conduct interferes with bus safety or violates bus riding rules
and regulations.
19. Supervision to the bus stop, at the bus stop, and home from
the bus stop is a parental responsibility.
20. Students cannot bring any item on the bus that cannot be
held on the lap comfortably. This is a regulation of the New
York State Department of Transportation.
Please do not send in glass items, for example, jars, bottles
etc. These items are not allowed on the bus. In addition, UNDER
LAW, WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TRANSPORT LIVE ANIMALS. Please do not
ask the driver to make exceptions.
Skateboards, baseball bats, golf clubs, fishing poles, knives,
radios, tape recorders, trading cards, pod’s, etc. are not
allowed on the bus.
