Parents: Have a
plan for early dismissals
When there is an early dismissal due to bad
weather or other emergencies, Port Jervis High School students
are released first, followed by middles school students and then
elementary students.
At every grade level, for safety reasons, all school-age children
should know what to do in case of an early dismissal. This is
particularly important for families in which both parents work
outside of the home. It is recommended that parents make
arrangements with a sitter, neighbor, friend or relative to who
can be called upon in such situations. It is also important to
review your plans with your children on a regular basis.
Update emergency contact numbers
•
It's important for the school to
be able to reach you. Please remember to notify your child's
school whenever there is a change in your daytime or evening
phone numbers - or your address.
•
Other emergency information.
Make sure your contact
information and your student's health information is up-to-date
with the school office and nurse. Additionally, if your child
goes to childcare or is cared for by someone outside of your
home after school, please provide the school and Transportation
Department with the caregiver's contact information.
