District honors retirees for years of service

ASK Elementary teacher Susan Botti was one the retirees honored at the June 3 school board meeting.

Port Jervis School District bid farewell June 3 to the employees who will retire by the end of the school year. All retirees, to include those who retired at any time during the current school year, were invited to attend at a special reception and the Board of Education meeting. The School Board formally recognized the retirees for their years of service by presenting each of them with an engraved plaque and marble apple.

Superintendent John Xanthis extends his gratitude to the following employees for their dedicated service to the school district:

Anthony Valentia, Sr.- school bus driver, 14 years
Margaret Grant - school bus driver, 29 years
Adelaide Schmidt - school bus monitor, 12 years
Harry Space - head district maintenance mechanic, 34 years

James Cullinan - elementary teacher, 38 years
Janet Niosi - elementary teacher, 37 years
Susan Botti - elementary teacher, 12 years
Patricia McCooey - elementary teacher, also served at former Sullivan Avenue Elementary School, 30 years

Patricia Greeves - elementary teacher, 26 years
