Bicentennial Elementary School is pleased to welcome our new principal Linda Korycki. A member of the district staff
since 2004, Ms. Korycki comes to HBE from ASK Elementary School
where she served as the assistant principal.
Korycki, who made Port Jervis her home five years ago when
she relocated here from the Minisink Valley School District, is
looking forward to becoming part of the HBE school community.
"It is a privilege and honor to become the principal of a school
that is known for its nurturing, supportive learning
environment," said Korycki.
With more than 17 years of classroom experience as an
elementary, library, and reading teacher, Korycki is also
excited about working with HBE teachers to strengthen the
school's Literacy Collaborative and to implement the district's science and
character education programs.
This summer, Korycki, who holds a master's degree in reading and
spent most of her teaching career working as a reading
specialist, completed training for the Literacy Collaborative
program at Orange-Ulster BOCES.
"Reading is the key to help students
succeed," said Korycki, who is pleased to be part of a team
that shares her enthusiasm for reading and is committed to providing an environment
that fosters a love for
reading.
Korycki is filling the position held for more than 20 years by
Sharon Dickstein, who retired in June.
