John Bell
named president-elect of NYS Association for Supervision
and Curriculum Development

The Port Jervis
City School District is proud to announce that John Bell,
assistant superintendent for instruction, has been elected
president-elect of the New York State Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development (NYSASCD). Bell takes
office this fall. He will serve a two-year term as
president-elect and then move to the presidency for the next two
school years, 2011-2013.
An affiliate of the worldwide ASCD, the state association
assists educators in the development and delivery of quality
instructional programs and supervisory practices to maximize
success for all learners. ASCD is a renowned leader in improving
teaching and learning through workshops, conferences, and
publications. Currently, the educational organization represents
over 18,000 educators in New York State and more than 175,000
members worldwide.
Bell has served on the NY State ASCD executive board since 2006.
As president, he will be responsible for helping to strengthen
the state association’s policies and to develop programs and
services dedicated to improving teaching and educational
leadership.
“ASCD is the best educational organization in America. I am
thrilled to become president-elect of its New York affiliate.
This position will give me access to great ideas and programs
that I can bring back to Port Jervis,” says Bell.
