Senior Girls Luncheon - A Taste of the Future

About to take the biggest step of their lives, the girls in the Port Jervis High School Class of 2009 got together June 8 to celebrate their accomplishments and better prepare themselves for post-graduation success. 
 

For the fourth year, all of the girls in the graduating class were invited to attend the Senior Luncheon. The day-long event was held again this year at the Best Western in Westfall, PA.

Much more than a casual dining experience, the special event provides the girls who attended with an opportunity to participate in a series of  life skills workshops - all of which were specifically designed to help them meet the personal challenges they will face in the workforce, college, and their personal lives.

The hands-on workshops provide information on a variety of topics including time and stress management, personal finances, nutrition, and healthy relationships.
 

The workshop is organized by a volunteer committee of high school teachers and staff. Committee members Helenanne Gillinder, Erin Lehn, Laurie Kahmar, and Jane Accardi are pictured below at the luncheon with assistant high school principal Heidi Nyland.  Accardi says the event is made possible by support received from the Port Jervis Business and Professional Women's Club, Port Jervis Rotary Club, Bon Secours Hospital and numerous other local businesses.
