Bicentennial Elementary singers
featured on National Public Radio
Congratulations to
music teacher John Webber and his kindergarten
students for being selected by NPR to be part of its
2008 National Caroling Party!
On December 21,
Hamilton Bicentennial Elementary School students were featured,
along with musicians from around the county, on the National
Public Radio's Annual National Caroling Party.
For the second consecutive year, NPR invited singers and
musicians to help them create "the coolest Christmas party
ever" by recording their own version of Santa Claus Is
Coming To Town and submitting it for consideration for the
station's nationwide caroling party. Using a piano accompaniment
provided by NPR,
Bicentennial music teacher
John Webber recorded all of his 28 classes singing the famous
holiday song. He mixed each individual grade level together
(that is, all Kindergarteners, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, ..., 6th), and
then combined them all into one mega-mix! He then submitted all
eight versions to NPR for them to merge with other winning
entries.

NPR merged the submissions
into one big, joyful chorus. A link to the National Caroling
Party is included below. Listen carefully for the HBE students
singing "...he knows when you've been sleeping...so be good
for goodness sake!"
The folks at NPR also singled out several of the submissions by
featuring their version of the festive holiday song on the NPR
Web site. The HBE kindergarten version of Santa Claus is
Coming to Town was one of the selected versions! Once you're
on the NPR site, you can hear our students sing by scrolling
down the page until you reach the link to Hamilton Bicentennial
Elementary School. Links to all of the individual grade level
performances are also posted below. Enjoy!
