ASK participates in the nation's largest reading celebration
ASK celebrated the joy of
reading by participating in the
nation's largest reading celebration - Read Across
America. Sponsored by the National Education
Association, Read Across America is celebrated each year
in conjunction with the birthday of children's author Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.
This year's celebration was coordinated with our March Parents
as Reading Partners Program.
The theme for the month-long
celebration was Read Around the World. Numerous fun activities,
based on Dr. Seuss' books, were held in our of our classes. Many
students enjoyed read-alouds with guest readers in their
classrooms.
All students were invited to
wear their pajamas to school March 19 for "Snuggle up with a
Good Book Day." Hats of all size, shapes, and colors were worn
by students and staff on "Hats of to Reading Day."
The cafeteria staff even joined the fun by serving everyone a
special lunch of Green Eggs and Ham on March 2 to celebrate Dr.
Seuss' big day!
