Christmas Dove
Kapusinsky's artwork featured on newspaper cover
The artwork of Port Jervis High School senior Mary Kapusinsky
was featured on the cover of The River Reporter
Celebrations issue.
The
painting, entitled Christmas Dove, features a white dove adorned
by a colorful arrangement of holiday evergreens and berries.
In an article that
appeared in The River Reporter, Mary said, "I choose to
do something like this because it reminded me of past
Christmases at my house." The daughter of two talented artists-
Brian and Christina Kapusinsky - Mary and her family have always
lived in a wooded area.
She noted, "There
is something special about going out and picking evergreens and
berries. But there is something even more important about the
holidays, namely making the effort to spend quality time with
the people you love."
While Mary has experimented with a variety of mediums, she says
she used acrylic paints because "they are simple to use and
blend well to create lights and darks."
During the holiday season, Mary's beautiful acrylic painting was
displayed at the Narrowsburg Roasters Coffee Shop. It was sold
along with the works of other local artists at a silent auction.
Proceeds from the sale were donated to the Church of the Holy
Name in Port Jervis.
